vs.
Charles W. Hunt

Indicted for Murder

Now on this 11th day of June A. D. 1878, Defendant in this case is called for sentence and being asked by the Court if he had any legal reasons to offer, why sentence should not be pronounced, Defendant's attorney move for a new trial and arrest of judgment. Motions overruled by the Court, to which ruling Defendant excepts [sic]. The defendant by permission of the Court made a short statement.

The Court here pronounced the following sentence:

The Sentence of the Court as now here pronounced, is, that you Charles W. Hunt be confined at hard labor in the House of Correction in the City of Detroit and State of Michigan for the term of twelve (12) years from twelve o'clock at noon of this day.
