The Wildest

Deadwood was known as the wildest mining town of them all. Its citizens were mostly male, its economy unstable. One-third made a living in the"entertainment" business. Proper folk didn't go near the "badlands"—saloons, casinos, brothels, and dance halls that ran 24 hours a day. But the miners, who came from all over the United States and other countries, too, could buy goods and services rivaling those on the East Coast.
